HUD Shells Out Another $1 Billion Dollars to Clean Up, Clear Out and Rehab Foreclosures
Another $1 Billion Available to Stabilize Hard-Hit Neighborhoods
HUD just recently awarded an additional $1 billion dollars to state and county governments to assist communities in reversing the effects of the housing and foreclosure crisis. These monies can be used to assist with the cleanup of vacant homes throughout communities across the United States.
This monetary grant represents the third round of Neighborhood Stabilization Program funding earmarked for acquiring, redeveloping, or demolishing foreclosed properties. All 50 states, Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia have been designated to receive monies from this allocation. HUD says today, 95 cents of every dollar from the first round of Neighborhood Stabilization Program funding is obligated and is in full use by communities throughout the country, buying up and renovating homes, and creating jobs.
